The Best Mac & Cheese

filed under: comfort meals

My favorite dish that my Grandmother makes. SO much flavor, a little heat, and cheesiness.

Ingredients:

+ 1 cooked box of pasta (shell is superior)
+ 1 diced onion (any size and color)
+ 1 clove of garlic
+ 1 tbs worcestershire sauce
+ 1 tbs yellow mustard
+ 5 splashes Tobasco
+ 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
+ 1 can evaporated milk
+ 1 pt. half & half
+ 2 cups cheese (any cheese combination works and is a great way to clear out any leftover cheeses you have)

Instructions:

Cook your box of pasta & drain. I prefer to leave the pasta draining while I make the sauce, so I can use the same pot (less dishes to clean!).

Step 01

Using med. heat, in the pot you used to boil the pasta, put in the diced onion & garlic. Let that cook until you can smell the garlic - approx. 2 minutes.

Step 02

Add the Worcestershire sauce, mustard, tobasco, paprika, evaporated milk, half & half. Mix!

Step 03

Grab your pasta that has been draining and add that back into the pot with the sauce.

Step 04

Slowing incorporate the cheeses and make sure the pasta is coated and creamy. Add more cheese, if your heart needs.

Step 05

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 06

Pour the Mac & Cheese into a 9x11 casserole dish, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes.

Step 07

While the Mac & Cheese is baking, mix the Panko bread crumbs & olive oil (for the crust) in a small bowl.

Step 08

After 30 minutes in the oven, remove from oven & remove foil. Top with the crumb mixture. Place back into the oven for 10 minutes (or until the top is golden).

Step 09

Serve & Enjoy!
